Temporary bridge Terherne
In Terherne, the task was to replace an existing movable bridge with a new one to ensure safe use in the future. To keep the traffic flow, especially for road traffic, as smooth as possible, the contractor opted for a temporary traffic bridge that was 15 meters long. Recreational vessels up to a height of 2.40 meters could still pass under the fixed bridge. However, occasionally, a taller vessel needed to use the Zandsloot and pass through the bridge.
To accommodate this, a clever solution was chosen with two positions: a low position for road traffic and a high position for maritime traffic. Moving the bridge from the low to the high position was carried out using a mobile crane, which was done only a few times due to the complexity involved.
The construction work was delayed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
